Avignon (Avi) Greene approaches her work with an unwavering dedication to creating spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Never afraid to challenge the status quo to deliver inclusive, intentional design, she consistently seeks innovative solutions that address the diverse needs of all users while fostering a more equitable and accessible environment. To reinforce this principle, Avi serves on the AIA Colorado Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, working to bridge the equity gap within the architecture profession.
Avi leads in sustainable and equitable design for elite athlete training and venue facilities, with a focus on women’s sports. She leads with a purpose to ensure the projects she works on are designed with sustainability and inclusivity at their forefront. Having served as the co-chair for the Populous sustainability resource and education group, EcoPOP, Avi works with colleagues and clients to guide them in understanding the importance of sustainable design and how it can be used as a catalyst for healthier, more resilient communities.
With her background as a collegiate athlete, Avi has a deep appreciation for the unifying power of sports. She views sports as a catalyst for positive societal impact. Avi sees the athletic and venue architecture market as a unique opportunity to develop safe, authentic and community-driven venues, where the next chapter of sports can be written through the lens of belonging, equity and inclusion. As a member of the queer community, Avi is committed to ensuring her projects elevate marginalized voices, fostering a deeper sense of community often found through the shared love of a sports team or league.
