Chris Marinak is the Chief Operations & Strategy Officer for Major League Baseball. He manages MLB’s technology organization, leads departments focused on digital fan engagement, and supervises the league’s Strategy and Analytics group. His oversight includes Marketing and Social Media, Global Events, International, Digital Products and Technology Infrastructure, and the creation of the Major League playing schedule. Marinak joined MLB in 2008 and was promoted to his current role in August 2020, reporting directly to Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. He has been responsible for various on-field and strategic baseball initiatives and has served on the game’s Competition Committee. Previously, as a member of MLB’s Labor Relations Department, Marinak was a part of the bargaining team for two consecutive collective bargaining agreements.

The teams under Marinak’s purview build all fan-facing digital technology, including MLB.com, the MLB and Ballpark apps, MLB.TV and Statcast. His teams also oversee technical relationships with the world’s leading technology companies, including Adobe, Apple, Google and Sony’s Hawk-Eye, for functions including ball and player tracking for Statcast, data, analytics, and MLB’s Replay Review system.

The alumnus of the University of Virginia, where he pitched for the Cavaliers baseball team, also attended Harvard Business School.
