David S. Blitzer is the Global Head of Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities group (Tac Opps), and a member of the firm’s Management and Operating Committees. He also leads the Tac Opps Investment Committee. Tac Opps is Blackstone’s opportunistic investment business which invests globally across asset classes and industries to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns in any market environment. Prior to launching Tac Opps, Mr. Blitzer had been involved in the execution of Blackstone investments across a variety of asset classes, including establishing and leading Blackstone’s European private equity business. He joined the firm in 1991.
Mr. Blitzer is also Co-Managing Partner and Co-Chairman of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, which includes in its portfolio the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) , the New Jersey Devils (NHL), leading venue Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., the GRAMMY Museum Experience Prudential Center, the Delaware Blue Coats (NBA G League), hockey operations for the American Hockey League’s Utica Comets, the Sixers Innovation Lab Crafted by Kimball, renowned esports franchise Team Dignitas and NBA 2K League Team, 76ers Gaming Club (GC). Additionally, he is a General Partner of the Crystal Palace Football Club (EPL). Blitzer recently was the lead minority investor and point person of an investment group for the Cleveland Guardians (MLB). He also is part of the ownership group for Real Salt Lake (MLS) and holds stakes in numerous international soccer clubs.
Mr. Blitzer and his wife, Allison, founded the Blitzer Family Foundation, which supports positive youth development by creating opportunities centered around education, athletics, health and wellness. The Blitzer Family Foundation’s ongoing mission is to strengthen communities by assisting young people in reaching their full potential. Mr. Blitzer is based in New York and graduated magna cum laude from the
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Blitzer currently serves on the Boards of Dream, a youth development organization servicing more than 2,200 inner-city children, the Riverdale Country School, the Advisory Board of the Mount Sinai Surgical Department, the Board of Overseers at the Wharton School and the Board of Trustees at University of Pennsylvania.
